Whether you’re looking for a place to volunteer for the holidays or your family is in need, finding the best food drives out there can be hard. This article will walk you through finding the perfect Thanksgiving drives in New York City this holiday season.

 

Catholic Charities will be at Cathedral High School Saturday November 18. The address for this event is 350 East 56th Street. This charity will be making blankets for senior centers and for others in need. In addition, they’ll also be giving out blessing bags, which are special products put together by the organization that include food, holiday items, and Christmas cards.

 

The 2017 Thousand Turkey Challenge is another food drive taking place this Thanksgiving. It is being hosted by Church of St. Paul & St. Andrew. The drive will be located at 263 West 86th Street, between Broadway and West End Avenue. A staple in the area, this organization specializes in feeding low income families. This year’s drive will take place Sunday, November 19, from 12:15–1:30pm. The Turkey Challenge will be accepting turkeys from all volunteers, preferably around 14 pounds. If you are in need of a turkey, this organization will be able to help.

 

Gobble Gobble Give NYC will be held November 23 at 550 West 155th Street. This drive is taking place all morning, from 8 AM to 12 PM EST. At this food drive, volunteers are asked to bring dishes, blankets and toiletries. This food drive will deliver home cooked meals provided by volunteers and deliver them around the city. Feeding NYC 2017 will be held at 23rd Street and the West Side Highway. This event will take place Tuesday, November 21 of this year. Feeding NYC has fed more than 50,000 people over the years and is looking to continue their great success again this year. If you are interested in volunteering, everyone is welcomed; however, volunteers under 18 will need a waiver signed by an adult.

 

The Yorkville Common Pantry is hosting a food drive and serving event for Thanksgiving this year. Food will be served Wednesday, November 23 from 3:30 to 6:30 PM EST. Those that are in need of food can stop by anytime during these hours for a warm welcome and a hot meal. If you’re looking to volunteer, you can just show up on the day ready to work! The food pantry will also need help the week before Thanksgiving in order to prepare for the event. Yorkville Common Pantry is located at 8 East 109th St., between Fifth and Madison Avenues.
The Real Life Church, located in the Bronx, will be serving free Thanksgiving dinners on Thanksgiving day. The church is looking for volunteers to come and serve food from 11 AM-4 PM EST. The unique thing about this even is that it’s not only a food drive, but a clothing drive has well.
